About
| MCSP MSc (Pain) BSc (Hons) Specialist in Pain Physiotherapy | |
| The Specialist Pain Physio Clinics were established with the aim of providing solutions for persisting pain, painful conditions and recurring injury. Commonly seen conditions include back and neck pain, arthritis, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), recurring sports injuries, fibromyalgia, muscular and joint pain, headaches and other painful problems that affect daily life.
We use our in-depth knowledge of pain to offer individualised treatment programmes that meet your needs and goals. Often the goals include pain relief and control, increasing and promoting healthy activity levels, improving quality of life and returning to work and sports activities. We will work hard to ensure that you understand the problem with an explanation that allows you to fully comprehend the nature of the pain and its influence and how it can be treated. Specialist Pain Physio treatment programmes are tailored individually by combining our expertise and your requirements. There are clear roles for both the physiotherapist and the client/patient. Therapies that are used include a blend of the following: 1. Skilled hands-on treatments for pain and stiffness include massage & joint mobilisation 2. Exercise to normalise mobility, strength and movement control 3. Activity and postural management 4. Graded exposure to controllably return to activities that are painful & challenging 5. Pacing is a method of working together to gradually increase activity levels to promote normal movement, tissue health & fitness 6. TENS & acupuncture can be useful methods of pain relief through modulation of a sensitive nervous system 7. Relaxation and mindfulness approaches help the sensitivity to reduce by calming the nervous system as demonstrated by modern science 8. Newer therapies that 'train the brain' to reduce the perception of threat demonstrate good results in pain relief and sense of normalisation Specialist Pain Physio Clinics offer practical solutions and treatments for persisting pain and injury that is affecting day-to-day living. We work in conjunction with GPs, consultants and psychologists. Appointments & Secretary 07518 445493 Mobile 07932 689081 |
